Nick Hehemann (BS Geology, 2007)

Environmental Geologist in Olympia, Washington

I have worked for local, state, federal and tribal governments, in addition to private geotechnical consulting and providing testimony as a geotechnical expert witness. My experience has mostly involved the environmental permitting and regulation of industries operating in Washington. This experience has developed my passion for protecting our environment in a way that also promotes the economic viability of our state.

In 2017 I was appointed to a position in the Governor's Office as a Regulatory Improvement Consultant. I really enjoy the work we do, and I'm always excited to hear about what we get to tackle next.

CWU Geology staff provided me the foundation and guidance I needed to succeed. I have no idea where my career will lead, but I like where I have been and I love where I'm at now.

I have many short term career goals, and I will keep my peripheral vision open. However, my primary focus in life is being the best husband and father I can be. I met my wife in Ellensburg so I suppose I can thank CWU for that too.
