Emily Parker Wright (MS Geology, 2009)

Community College Instructor in Fort Collins, Colorado

Geology Instructor at Front Range Community College.

Through the Yakima WATERS fellowship at Central, I had the opportunity to teach at the K-12 and college level in addition to my research experience during my graduate studies. I had excellent teaching mentors, both at Central and at Ellensburg High School, who inspired me to pursue a career in geoscience education.

Since graduation, I have taught at a number of institutions including a few classes at Central. Between teaching jobs, I had the wonderful opportunity to pursue my dreams of traveling, rock climbing and, of course, recreational geologizing.

Since Jan 2015, I have been teaching at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, CO, while my husband, Micah, studies fire ecology at Colorado State. Colorado is a beautiful place to teach geology but there will always be a special place in my heart for the Cascadia Subduction Zone and the resulting orographic precipitation pattern.
