 The department's 07/08 Speaker Series begins Friday, Sept. 28th at

The Northwest Geological Society 20th Anniversary Symposium and Reception will
be held
October 13, 2007 at University of Washington. Speaker topics range from environmental geology at Hanford, tectonic history of the north
Cascades, to petroleum potential of the Columbia River Basin. The Symposium wlll be followed by a wine and beer reception.
Students are encouraged to attend; cost is only $5/student. For details, download the

Cabot Oil & Gas will visit the department Nov. 6th and 7th to
interview upper-division geology undergraduate and graduate students interested in an internship. If you are interested, you must
submit a resume to the department secretary, Vicki Potts, by Oct. 16th.
To prepare for this visit, the department will
offer a tutorial
on creating a resume
and interview skills on Thursday, Oct. 4th at 5:15 pm in Lind 103. This tutorial is open to all geology students.
In addition to
the interview, Cabot Oil will provide an informal presentation on the role of geologists in the oil and gas industry and role of internships at 5 pm
Tuesday Nov. 7th in Lind 103. For more information
