What aspects of the teaching or content of this course do you feel were especially good?

  • The teacher is very enthusiastic and wanted to make sure we learned what was needed. A lot of knowledge was gained from this course. Great job!
  • There was always extra help available when needed. This was very much appreciated.
  • Good enthusiasm. Charlie maintained good relationships with each individual student.
  • Charlie did a really good job. Even though he was gone sometimes. Harder material was easier to understand when Charlie explained it. The fact that we could go to Steve for help also.
  • I liked the bowl used to explain stereonets. It made it so easy. Very good visual aid. The class overall was very good and met my expectations.
  • This course really helped me to fill in some gaps in my knowledge about how to interpret geologic features. The content was good! It was good enough to turn what I thought was going to be a very boring class into one that I am interested in.
  • The prof was always enthusiastic. He provided good examples and materials to the students.
  • I liked the enthusiasm for the material.

What changes could be made to improve learning in this course?

  • Speech Š slow down. Writing Š make more legible. Don't run away and look at earthquakes Š leaving us in the hands of a new teacher and expect us to learn what was needed, especially right before a test. The textbook wasnÕt very helpful most of the time and VERY dry to read.
  • Sometimes, actually a lot of times, the instructor's speech was too fast! Therefore, taking notes was difficult some of the time.
  • Could be less vocal about peoples' grades.
  • DonÕt overload us in the first 3 weeks of class. Scared the hell out of us.
  • Slow down. The class moved a little fast at times.
  • Rubin needs to come to class rgularly, speak slower and write more clearly. We should alos break some real rocks in the stress fracturing section.
  • Charlie talks too fast sometimes, but slows down when asked to.
  • Slow down and speak more clearly. Since you are a teacher pay more attention to your students and not earthquakes!
  • Time went by too fast, I don't really feel that I learned much. We went over material too fast.
  • I think it was sort of ridiculous that the Professor takes off to Alaska and leaves his students hanging. Also, I think he should slow down, he always seems so rushed during lectures.
  • Don't change the teacher (when Lundblad taught then Charlie and so on). Don't make lab 35% of the grade make it 20% instead.
