What aspects of the teaching or content of this course do you feel were especially good?

  • Hands on assistance was provided when necessary, but we were still left to problem solve with ourselves and each other also.
  • On line handouts and web links; tools used; John and Aaron's insights.
  • The hands on teaching & learning from Charlie as well as John. Big help.
  • How we get to go out in the field and practice everything that we were learning about. And being able to directly see how what we're learning could save our lives.
  • The hands on experience. Actually going in the backcountry. Having a Pro Patrol come out with us. All the pictures on the power point.
  • Field labs were great. Feedback on our pits was always good too. Along with bonding tests things were explained well. Being able to checkout equipment was great.
  • The use of outside help to aid in regional expertise for learning.
  • The web site info, the in field work, working with John and Erin. The overall course was much more than I expected and was very good and informative.
  • The lectures were clear - good PowerPoint and use. Input from John and Aaron was also very helpful and interesting!

What changes could be made to improve learning in this course?

  • More ski time
  • Have a course set up with transceivers; go somewhere different for a change?
  • Not much, be able to watch the blasting one of the days.
  • More transceiver work.
  • Smaller class would be nice with more meeting times.
  • Better layout (use of time) of field time.
  • Possible the beacon searches, maybe more 1 on 1 help, but I learned a lot and was able to practice a lot.
  • Do lab in a variety of locations.
