PANGA People:

First, please take a moment to look at the email list to make sure your
name is there; I have also sent this to the PANGA listserve, but this is the
last time I will use the PANGA listserve. If you are on the named list and
wish to be taken off, please tell me. If this got to you via the listserve, I
won't bother you again unless you tell me to add you to the named list.

For those of you new to the list, originally made from last year's attendees,
the meeting will be February 18th and 19th at the Department of Geological
Sciences, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR 97403 (my phone 541-346-4584;
department: 541-346-4573). I'll send a map with the schedule next week.

I have blocked out rooms at the Phoenix Inn, one block from the department:
1-800-344-0131 or phoenixinnsuites.com The cost will be $49/person and
there are rooms with 1 king bed or 2 queen beds. [If you want your own room
you'll need to pay the cost of two people] Say the magic word, "PANGA,"
to get this rate. If rooms run out let me know and I'll book more at another
nearby hotel (but this is the closest and nicest). Breakfast is included.

Several people have asked to speak, and I've asked others to speak. If you
want to speak, and haven't already told me, please let me know; I hope
to have a schedule of talks, etc. by next Monday. Of course we will have
the usual poster session, so no one will be denied, but there are a limited
number of speaking slots.

There is money to support travel (although I have not seen it yet), and as I
understand the process, full travel support is offered to a few key speakers
and needy individuals (traveling from afar or poor students) and the rest is
split to partially cover other participants' costs. Please let me know if you
need exceptional support and by next week I should approximately know
what the general subsidy will be.

I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in February!

Yours,

Ray Weldon
University of Oregon
