Keegan Fengler (BS Geology, 2000; MS Geology, 2007)

CWU Adjunct Lecturer in Ellensburg, Washington

Currently, I am lucky enough to be an adjunct lecturer in CWU Geology. Mainly I am teaching 100-level classes - which is a lot of fun. After finishing my BS, I moved to Snoqualmie Pass and worked as a full-time ski instructor and then worked for a consulting firm in Kirkland. I decided the consulting world was not for me and it was time for graduate school. After considering my options and the needs of my family, I decided to head back to CWU to get my MS. My study area was in eastern Taiwan which made field work a lot of fun. From 2005 to 2008, I worked for UNAVCO as a Permitting Assistant on the Plate Boundary Observatory project.

I got married in 2003 to Aaron Opp (CWU Geography) and we bought a house in Ellensburg before I started graduate school. We now have a bouncing baby boy named Elon who was born in April 2009. Luckily we have a rockin' Border Collie named Tippi who helps us keep track of Elon. Aaron and Tippi are involved in Alpental BARK, an avalanche rescue team, based at Alpental ski area. Free time is usually spent chase the boy, but when I can I enjoy backcountry skiing, mtn/road biking, hiking, and working on our house.
