Ted Fisher (BA Earth Science, 1998)
Middle School Science Teacher in Beaverton, Oregon
After finishing at Central, I accepted a teaching position with the Beaverton School District and am now heading into my 14th year teaching 8th grade science at Mountain View Middle School. I also coach girls soccer at Southridge High School.
It is truly amazing how fast time goes. I still vividly remember all of the wonderful experiences and people of the CWU geology department. The classes and the field trips (Hawaii, the Washington coast, Bishop, seeing the ice-rafted erratics outside of Vantage) all built a strong foundation on which to build by teaching around. Those were critical years filled with intellectual grown, hands-on learning, and most importantly, an insane amount of fun. CWU Geology greatly impacted the person I have become. My students sometimes ask me about the college I went to and with great pride I tell them about CWU and the geology department.
I married Rachel in 2003 and we have two boys, Braden (2007) and Zach (2010). We live in Tigard, Oregon. Keeping the kids active and happy is my primary hobby right now but I find time to play indoor soccer, hike, camp, run, cook, and visit friends and family.
