Deron Carter (MS Geology, 2005)

Physical Science Instructor in Corvallis, Oregon

I landed a full-time faculty position at Linn Benton Community College in September 2006. I teach the introductory geology sequence, as well as a variety of science classes for non-majors, such as oceanography, chemistry, and earth science. It's a very challenging and rewarding job.

CWU Geology prepared me through my research, river trips down the Owyhee, and of course TAing the GEOL 101 labs. I can never say enough about how great the CWU Geological Sciences Department is!

I live in Corvallis with my lovely wife Erin, who is a middle-school science teacher, and our large (but dieting) cat, Palouse. Erin and I got married in August 2006 at Silver Falls State Park. Since we are both teachers, we've gotten to do some great trips the past few summers to Scotland, Ecuador, and Peru. The photo above is of us under the shadow of Cotopaxi in Ecuador. In our spare time we love to backpack, ski, garden, and work on our house.

UPDATE: Erin & I are expecting our first baby in February of 2009!
