Andy Menking (MS Geology, 2013)

Postdoctoral Scholar in Corvallis, Oregon

I am still studying!

I graduated from Oregon State University with a Ph.D., and I will be working here as a postdoctoral scholar for the next 2 years. I study how and why atmospheric greenhouse gases varied in the past using very old ice cores from Antarctica and Greenland. The ice I analyze is anywhere from a few hundred years old up to 2.5 million years old. This is an exciting job with lots of opportunities to go abroad (including the icy places), as long as you don't mind being a professional student.

My time working with Dr. Susan Kaspari at Central Washington University was key for getting the gears turning, and the skills I acquired greatly contributed to my success as a Ph.D. student.
