Mikkel Louis (BS Geology, 2018)

Graduate Student in Bellingham, Washington.

I am currently in my second year as a master's student at Western Washington University. My project involves work with submarine volcanism and understanding the sounds that eruptions make underwater using hydroacoustics. During the pandemic, I started the process of adopting a three-year-old boy with my wife, while also trying to manage work on my thesis.

My time at Central provided me with numerous research opportunities that have helped in my path of higher education. The comradery between students was something I had not experienced prior to starting the program. The skills and relationships that I built during my time at CWU has helped me expand my horizons during my masters, and provided me with a solid foundation for my future.
