Katie Hill (BA Earth Science, 2014)
High School Science Teacher in Lone Pine, California
After graduating this spring, I moved to the Owens Valley in California (memories of field camp, anyone??). I got a job teaching science at Lone Pine High School right at the foot of Mt. Whitney.
I am the entire science department at my school, and teach Earth Science, Biology and Physics to students in grades 9-12. It's a demanding job, but I absolutely love going to work every day.
I am truly living in geology paradise! Nothing beats seeing the sun hitting the eastern slopes of the Sierras in the mornings, and watching it light up the Inyo Mountains each evening. My fiance and I plan to explore all over Death Valley this winter, and summit Mt. Whitney in the spring.
I believe that my education at CWU has prepared me for the challenge I face here, and hope my students can benefit from my knowledge of this area. Thank you CWU Geology!
