Logan Butterfield (BS Geology, 2016)
Mine Geologist in Delta Junction, Alaska
I graduated from CWU Geology and have been highly successful in my career advancement working in underground mineral mining. I still live here in Washington state with my wife and two children and commute to work at the Pogo Mine in Delta Junction, Alaska. Currently, I am working as a Mine Geologist for a company called Northern Star that recently purchased the gold mine about two years ago.
I would recommend underground mining as a prosperous career avenue for the students at CWU Geology, especially to those young adults who are passionate about geologic mapping, core logging, and computer modelling.
