Emily Parker Wright (MS Geology, 2009)
Community College Instructor in Arcata, California
I'm a Geology Instructor at College of the Redwoods.
Through the Yakima WATERS fellowship at Central, I had the opportunity to teach at the K-12 and college level in addition to my research experience during my graduate studies. I had excellent teaching mentors, both at Central and at Ellensburg High School, who inspired me to pursue a career in geoscience education.
Since graduation, I have taught geology at several institutions including a few classes at Central. Between teaching jobs, I have had the wonderful opportunity to pursue my dreams of traveling, rock climbing and, of course, recreational geologizing.
My husband, Micah, and I recently purchased a van that will be our second camper van conversion project and our home this coming fall (2018) as we travel across North America. In the spring of 2019, I plan to return to my teaching position at College of the Redwoods, located on the beautiful North Coast of California, where the San Andreas Fault meets the Cascadia Subduction Zone.
