Field Work Along the North Central Chile Coast

Professor Lisa Ely, CWU undergraduate student Trent Adams, and former CWU student Dr. Tina Dura (now a professor at Virginia Tech University) were part of research team that visited Chile in July, 2018, to study tsunami and paleotsunami deposits.

Field work included digging shallow pits, collecting core samples, wading through rivers to view bank outcrops, and using ground-penetrating radar to examine the subsurface stratigraphy.
